PostDoc in Radar Signal Processing 01/02/2007 - 24 + 24 International Research Centre for Telecommunications and Radar (TUDelft)

International Research Centre for Telecommunications and Radar

The International Research Centre for Telecommunications and Radar (IRCTR) is a research centre of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) of Delft University of Technology. IRCTR has been established for performing project-driven research on telecommunications and radar and is based on the strong research programs of the telecommunications groups in the EEMCS Faculty of Delft University of Technology. In cooperation with other disciplines in TU Delft the IRCTR offers a well-equipped platform for challenging fundamental and applied research. For more information about IRCTR, please visit www.irctr.tudelft.nl.

The International Research Centre for Telecommunications and Radar has a postdoc vacancy in Radar Signal Processing.

Project and job description

The PARSAX (Polarimetric Agile Radar in S- And X-band) project designs and develops new, advanced technologies for integration in a radar system. A significant motivation for the definition of the radar is the verification and validation of models on the scattering properties of objects, man-made environments and natural environments. This includes a significant use of PARSAX being made in other, near-future, projects. The postdoc will be testing and evaluating scattering models to be integrated in the PARSAX radar system. Data analysis from different radar systems to verify the models will be a major task in the projects. Experience in designing data-acquisition RF and IF circuitry is an advantage.

Requirements

The candidate should have a doctorate, experience in the field of Radar Signal Processing, as well as experience in the analysis of data derived from multiple systems. He or she must have the ability to work effectively in a small multi-disciplinary team environment, while also having software development experience including embedded programming in a DSP software environment. Candidates also need a working knowledge of MATLAB, algorithm design, modeling, development and simulating, ideally in a DSP environment.

Conditions of employment

This position has a temporary employment basis of 2 years with an additional extension of 2 years. The extent of this position is a maximum of 38 hours per week (1 FTE). The estimated starting salary is based on scale 11, with a maximum of € 4,140 per month gross (based on a full-time appointment and depending on experience). Benefits and other employment conditions are in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities.

With regard to selection, internal candidates take precedence over external candidates.
