Joint DOI/USDA Radio Workshop

This Workshop is a critical forum for DOI and USDA Forest Service radio communications personnel and the goal is to provide an opportunity for all participants to learn and exchange information, ideas and to share their experience in managing radio resources. The 2008 Workshop will concentrate on recent advances in digital Land Mobile Radio narrowband technology, narrowband system transition activities, radio system sharing, standardization issues, public safety operations, and Federal radio frequency management.

Participants will be able to meet with radio vendor technical personnel for training opportunities on the vendors products, express concerns regarding standards adherence, and the need for preferred changes to equipment in the field and in development. This workshop will also enable our technical and managerial personnel to keep abreast of complex radio technology and policy issues, including commercial, cellular, and satellite offerings. Participants will also be able to meet with higher, lower and adjacent headquarters personnel to discuss technical, policy and managerial challenges facing participants radio program business lines.
