Project description:
This post-doctoral work is part of a current 3-year project on powering autonomous sensor networks. Whereas two types of power sources, vibration and electromagnetic waves, are considered in this project, the post-doctoral work will focus on electromagnetic energy.

The post-doctoral project can be split into two parts:
1- Antenna design:
EM energy will be collected thanks to wideband antennas (Vivaldi, Bow-Tie Antennas…). The first aspect of the work will concern the modeling, design, realization and measurement of suitable antennas at 30GHz.
Commercial electromagnetic simulators (Ansoft Designer, HFSS, CST) are available in the team for the design step. Depending on the antenna geometry, fabrication will either use photolithographic process or clean-room facilities. A semi-anechoïc chamber is also available for measurements.
2- Rectifying process:
The second aspect is the study of the RF-to-DC conversion in the rectenna. The rectifier will be designed at 30GHz using a circuit simulator. The rectifier will be fabricated and measured to evaluate its efficiency.
Finally, the whole structure will be fabricated and measured.
