Industrial Networking and Wireless Communications in Control

The cost of installing and maintaining field wiring at any site can be prohibitive and in some cases the solution is not viable.

In the meantime the average consumer has access to an increasing array of off-the-shelf wireless products. Bluetooth keyboards and headsets, GPRS and 3G enabled handsets, laptops, 802.11 wireless networks are all readily available. With increased adoption, the cost price reduces whilst the reliability increases.

With so many standards and products available, the control engineer’s task of selecting the right option to meeting their automation requirements can be a major challenge. No-one wants to choose the Betamax of the wireless world, but equally no-one wants to miss out on a potential new solution that may solve today’s problem.

The IET's seminar on Industrial Networking and Wireless Communications in Control helps engineers, managers, customers and vendors understand the latest on the most popular wireless standards and give an insight into who is doing what by:

·        Giving an overview of the available technology and how deploying it could benefit organisations

·        Meeting with product vendors and see their solutions first hand

·        Hearing from other users about their experiences with implementing different solutions.

This event will be of particular interest to:

·        Control engineers and electrical engineers who are looking for wireless solutions to industry automation problems

·        Technical managers and consultants involved in design, installation and commissioning of new solutions, particularly those looking for new and innovative ideas to enable them to provide the best solutions

·        Product vendors and other suppliers who want to keep ahead of the competition.
